Purchasing a Used Surfboard - 2009/09/21 14:07 Hi,

I have done some research on purchasing a used surfboard. However, being the newbie that I am, I am still hesitant and have uncertainties. It would be great, if this forum can give me insight on whether or not to purchase a board I found on Craig's List. [img] [img]

Re:Purchasing a Used Surfboard - 2009/09/23 02:46 Well mate, ppl can tell you lots of things, but the most important is how much you want to progress, you can get straigh away a shortboard and try and try until you get it (as I did it) tho is going to take you a much longer time but when you get it you dont have to pass through so many boards. Although if you want to surf only occasionally the best is a thicker board with lots of foam where you dont have to suffer every time you paddle to the point and just get a new one every time you feel you are ready for the next step.
Cheers
Jorge

Re:Purchasing a Used Surfboard - 2009/09/23 05:55 important by purchasing a used board is that the stringer isn't damaged - for a beginner the board should be wider in nose and tail. take a funboard 7 - 7.6

Re:Purchasing a Used Surfboard - 2009/09/23 06:21 Water damage, check the board over and over for water damage. Discolored usually means water damage & I would not buy a board with water damage. Check the nose, tail and rails especially as that is where most dings occur. The deck can have some pressure dings but make sure that they have not caused water damage.

Keep looking if you fear water damage.

Re:Purchasing a Used Surfboard - 2009/09/23 13:52 Get a board that is going to float u well. Depends on your size and weight. You want stability just starting out so you might consider a long board. Most important look out for delamination. No soft spots on the deck. Check it over careful.
