Wave size - 2007/03/23 06:17I just copied this wave size scale from a site, I tend to think they are undersize what do you think?
Surf Scale: 3 ft = waist high, 4 ft = chest high, 5 ft = head high, 10 ft =double overhead

Re:Wave size - 2007/03/25 00:57Generally speaking that sounds about right. However, Hawaiians measure it differently. For example, 3ft is about shoulder high.

Re:Wave size - 2007/03/25 08:52Just stick with waist/chest/head/overhead/ double overhead anything bigger is measured by the number of lumps in your shorts!
In the Islands the "macho" measurement is from the back of the wave not the face.
Cold murky water rips and reefs all count!

Re:Wave size - 2007/03/26 09:19I tend to agree with you, anything over double overhead these days is for the testostoron younger bros.

Re:Wave size - 2007/03/26 09:26I'll be in Hawaii, on Kauai next week so I hope to get some 6-8 footers, either their measurements or normal i don't really care as long as there are waves.
