 Informações suplementares

South Stradbroke Island or as it’s known to the locals Straddie or T.O.S (The Other Side) because of it location on the other side of the Gold Coast seaway, is situated on the south eastern Queensland coast, and is regarded as one of the best and most consistent breaks on the Queensland coast. To get to straddie you must first brave the sometimes dicey paddle across the seaway, picking the direction of the current can sometimes be tricky as can be the entry and exit as swell pulses through the seaway mouth and breaks against the rock walls so watch out timing is everything. Once you arrive on the other side you are greeted with an epic set up, as you stand looking from Porpoise Point you have Moondarewa Bay in front of you and about 400m down the beach is the reason Straddie gets so good, a pipeline spews sand from the sand pumping jetty back across the seaway at the spit into the water creating sand banks of your dreams.

On a good day there will be chunky peaks running from Moondarewa Bay right up the beach for kilometres but close to the sand pipe is the place to be! Most waves are short intense hollow and powerful with the odd bowl section on the inside just begging to be smacked. Straddie is a definite must for any visiting surfer, the waters warm the waves are good and the locals aren’t too bad as long as you wait your turn and pay some respect, so get out there and tear bags out of some Straddie Juice!

tourists - sreiously if your a tourist looking to surf this spot, bring you f@#King maners! i'v surfed here since i was quite young. and iv never seen it worse. i surf and have no problem with boog's, there is a place for both in the lin-up. but there is not place for brazza's droping in/washing shoulders/ geting in the way. this can be a heavy wave as i is. if i get injured or f@#ck my board beacuse of one of you blokes, im a knock the piss out of you. know your limmits and stay near the wall if your a bit of a kook, and be humble when your surfing our waves, there's plenty to go round.

- The ferry is unreal. I work on a Tuna boat parked not far from where old mate was run over. Dont listen to old propeller fodder, hes so clever he got run down and still thinks it an accident! Mate, I paid the guy twenty dollars extra TO RUN YOU OVER cause you were a cock head that day and nothing it seems has changed.

Enough bad attitudes - Mate Dale is a good bloke, been round the area for ages, your just spewin cos he's got a smart little business goin. Dude surfin ain't just for you champ change is a part o' life, you just gotta get smarter bout when and where you hit up each morning. Get real pal or choose a different lifestyle.!!
