The best surfer in the world - As my friend Ross, an accomplished surfer, recently said, "The best surfer in the world is the one having the most fun." Truer words were never spoken.

Admittedly, these photos were one of the raddest things I've ever seen, but my merriment is justified as I myself hail from that neck of the woods originally. But, hey, not everyone has access to the same prime wave action as we are blessed with here in California, and, to tell you the truth, I am not even sure that I would be surfing if I were still living back in Bulgaria. So power to you, Bulgarian brethren!

stylemaster - Just been reading some of the messages before I checked out all of the photo's. Lot's of comments about some guys cutback - so I checked out the photo sequence and yep....it certainly was funny.
Look, power to the bloke (but it's still funny). What's even funnier is idiots like me who add a message to this site! Who'd have thought that their were even waves in Bulgaria? So - we all get on this site because we are curious right? Then we right this dude off, but I see this daily in Oz. None the less...it is a funny sequence

Surfboards--where to buy - Where do you get your boards in Bulgaria? Any surf shops? Or do you have to buy 'em from Mediterranean area shops...?

Hi from down-under - Hi guys.
I'm originally from Constantza, the Romanian Black Sea Coast and lived in Brisbane, Australia for the last 15 years. Here, on the East Coast, we pride in some of the best surfers and surf locations in the world.
I'm in my 40's, being involved in water sports since I was 6, and personally relatively new to surfing(6-7 years), mainly handboard surfing.
"What's that?" you might ask.
Don't laugh, I'm trying to make a point here. On my 12 inch handboard I surfed waves 3 meters plus and saw many so called "surfers" chicken out. Few months ago we had 14 meter waves and I was the only one in the water, not even a life guard around.
That's not my point though.
I think (actually I know) surfing, in all its various forms, is not just about competition, how good one is (technique, tricks, stuff)... it's much more, it is an experience, a pursuit, always fresh and different, it is linking oneself with the sea, its heart beat and rhythm, an art form even, and its about how much you enjoy it.
If you have the chance to watch "Laird", the movie, you'll understand what I'm trying to say. Especially Lairds' hydro-foil riding of Jaws and alike.

Anyway, what I'm saying here is that a true surfer would always appreciate whatever the ocean(or sea) offers you on the day: real pumping bombs or just dead flat paddle-around type of conditions. Also, a true surfer would always appreciate others with similar pursuits, regardless of their skill level.
I guess some people are blessed with ocean side of perfect surf creating swell, others with the creativity of making the most of rare 2-3ft waves on small inland seas like the Black Sea.
Please do me a favor, stop abusing each other and share in what you have in common... your passion for surfing.

As for you, Bulgarian friends, Good on you! keep up the good work.
And if you guys have some links on the net where I can view more of the Black Sea surfing, please send them along.
I dream that one day I'll still be crazy enough to try one of the hardly surfable huge 10m+ waves during late autumn storms over there.

no title - I agree, surf what you can. If you are a real surfer you will seek out even the smallest wave if thats what you can ride everyday. I would rather ride a 2 foot mush wave than sit at home and watch T.V.

good luck - Bulgaria - beautiful country, unspoilt, friendly and welcoming people. Visited there in August and was very impressed. Good to see there are ridable waves there, but i always have to question the wisdom of posting your local spot on the internet. For one, every pathetic loser who logs on will mock it, and two, you encourage more people to turn up and crowd up the break. Anyway each to his own i guess. Keep surfing !

Go Bulgaria - keep surfing, be stoked, don't listen to crap from other people. They are not happy in their own lives and just want to bother people with their misery.
