From Lisbon get on the A2 highway top the south, then +-15km ahead turn right in the exit indicating Sesimbra, then follow EN378 road until you reach a OTAN/NATO base, where you turn right (you will see an indication of Lagoa de Albufeira). Then you follow that road until Alfarim, where you reach an intersection, and continue ahead past that; then you reach another intersection in Aldeia do Meco, turn left, again reach another intersection (20m ahead from last one), and follow straight ahead; About half km latter, you turn left, following the tar road, and you get to the beach. The wave quality can only be considered acceptable when the swell reaches 1m to 1.5m; smaller than that it's not worth it, better beach breaks are relatively near.
The beach has to main waves; the one in front of the beach entrance (step descent) breaks both ways, the left is better but not always works; the right is acceptable quality, very hollow drops, and a very very hollow inside section (beware of the rocks in this section, they sometimes show their teeth, especialy in low tide); otherwise the wave is a bit fat.
The other wave is a left that breaks to the right of the beach; it's a long fat wave, not so shallow as the main point, so a better option in the low tide.
There also is a wave to the left of the beach (also breaks to the left), in front of the cliffs, rarely surfed, and can handle waves from 1m up to 5m. Good options when the main wave is crowded. Check www.scs.co.pt for more photos.
