Surf trip description:
These are actually two separate trips, on two different weekends. San Diego was from 8/10-8/12, and Baja was from 8/17-8/20. I went down to San Diego with one of my buddies, met up with another buddy of mine who was in SD for the summer, and we surfed Lower Trestles, Blacks, and Windansea. Lowers was 3-5 ft and not TOO crowded, since we got there Friday around noon. Blacks was 2-3, but we still had some fun waves. We then almost got killed by a rockslide, so that was interesting. Windansea was 2-4; even though it was small, I could see that place having lots of potential. The waves just have so much punch. Overall, besides Trestles, the waves were small, but we enjoyed the 75 degree water (I trunked it the whole time).
Baja wasn't really a surf trip. It was actually a mission through my church, and we went to this one impoverished town about 45 minutes south of the border and another 45 minutes inland, and we built a roof over the communal area in town. It was pretty intense, since we were working in 104+ degree F and as a result I got heatstroke, then Montezuma's Revenge from cooling myself off with (and accidently swallowing) the tap water. Even though I wasn't feeling all that great, it's all part of the experience, haha. Then on Sunday we went to Rosarito, where we shared the Gospel with the local kids and whatnot. After that we went to Rosarito Beach and I caught a few waves. It was about 4-7ft and barreling. Oh, and the water was warm too, so I just trunked it.
