Localism ! - Hi there,
I went for a surf trip in indian ocean, spent 2 weeks in reunion island and then 1 week in mauritius island.

Reunion was a good choice ! nice waves , very consitent , good vibes in the water.

Mauritius was a nightmare ! i've tried to surf twice, first time was on one eye , there : a small tough regular wanker through me out of the water because the wave is supposed to be reserved for mauritian ...
2 days after i ve tied to surf the famous tamarin bay, the left was incredible ! when i ve reached the wave the same small hairless guy told me to go out once again, i decided to stay, he catch a wave and as he was paddling back to the lineup he stopped by me threatened me throwing water in my face and smashed by board. i've paddled back to the beach without taking any wave...

I've been told before going to mauritius that the called '' locals white shorts '' wasn't surfing anymore and that it was cool for foreigners to surf there, well it was wrong ! Mauritius has the worst localism i've ever seen during my surf travels !

Mauritius suck - I'm at this moment in Mauritius and I have never had such a bad experience in my life with locals.

They live based on turism and surf came with turists and still they treat people badly.
I'll never come back and they can go back to sugar plantations choping sugar canes!
Stay way from Tamarin Bay!

Getting around - Ill be at La Pirogue , about 20-50 mins I believe by car to any surf Spot . Is there a local boat tour guide or anyone I can hook up with on the island to get a surf while there

- Just came back from mauritius, had a few good days, but the locals are really a pain in the ***. I didnt personaly get in trouble because i think respect, politeness and not over-doing it also are the main rules where surfing abroad. But a group of other foreigners got kicked out of the water, big figth following with some of them finishing at the hospital etc etc...i say dont mess with the locals there :s stay at the end of the wave if you are not friends with them at first on the beach...
