get your immunisations before surfing here - The water is dirty and my friend caught typhoid after we surfed here. I had been immunised and got mildly ill for a couple of days. He ended up in hospital! Oh, the wave was great, with pretty aggressive locals who would drop in, and then shout at you to get off their wave etc.

safi uranium site - incase you were wondering what the ugly factory was processing in safi town,it's URANIUM, a very toxic substance, dont swallow the water or eat the fish, anyone who has stayed in safi will have noticed how friendly the people are but also the high number of lunatics walking the streets,i put this down to the uranium factory causing mental illness, like something out of xfiles.if you dont believe me,google it

First surf in Safi - Hey Roland,Sorry, man…just for information and truth, I am the first guy who surfed Safi (in 1982…I have no merit for that; just a lot of luck) … I surfed Safi alone two years along before my best friend Henri El Grichi and the others.See you later…may be in the Réunion Island or in…Safi Luc Soutif

look elsewhere - Was there in 05/06 and stayed in Safi for about 10 days. Surfed the wave 3 times. First sesh, small and it turned to shit coz of the high tide. Second sesh, awesome but crowded as, bodyboarders and very agro locals. Third sesh, got kicked out at 8am for some comp. I enjoyed the town of Safi, but felt the wave rarely worked with nasty crowds. Me and my mates surfed the open beach 10km north most days, and that was the highlight. Look elsewhere ppl, its ruined now.

good pictures - THE PICTURE ARE OK ! ITS THE REAL SPOT NEAR THE HARBOUR
De Roland , 13-05-2006
about "the garden" - Everybody must know the truth! The spot just near the SAFI's harbour work on very low tides (medium to bigest swells) and on normal low tides when it's big.The first guy to speak about the wave was Luc Soutif who worked on the harbour in the early 80's. The guys who first surfed the spot were Hakim Henri Do Tarik and Hervé. The last 4 rented a house above the wave (on the cliff)and just came there from Casa every times they could in the 80's. They called the spot "the garden" because of the view they had from the house on the cliff: the spot was just down there like "in the garden"... And they kept it secret...Anybody else to explain the name? No for sure!

Moroco questions - I am planning on coming out to Maroc at the end of January. Le Jardin looks super sick. The posts indicate it is inconsistant. If there is solid swell will it be breaking? How far is the drive from Safi to Agadir in case there are no waves a le Jardin?

anonymous - o dear... i'm looking for some nice spots to surf in morroco and what i get is full on war... maybe ill take my board somewhere else after all, seems that nobody can agree: is safi a grat wave or is it crap? do you have to fight to get on a wave? i'm lucky enough to surf 9standing up that is as it seems to matter so much around here...) but is mybody boarding son (12) in danger of getting 1-insulted 2-attacked 3-killed for daring getting in the water to try and have some fun? last time i looked, surfing was about having fun, celebrating being alive and enjoying the adrelanine that's so generously brought to us by the mighty ocean... where did it all go wrong? so, in a nutshell: should i bother finding la jardin?
