De Anonymous , 20-03-2008
surf in rarotonga - Surfs only for experts, intense, very shallow and very short rides. Not worth the air fare as a surfari destination. go to indo

rarotongas over-rated - Just resently went to the "island paradise" rarotonga and one of my mates got bashed after a surf... this was my second visit there and things are getting alot worse, the coverage that the place is gettting through magazines is killing it... also the locals are starting to get well and truely pissed off... my next trip wont be there

Raro Rules - KIAORANA Im originally from Raro, but now in Goldcoast and going back to live next year, ive surfed in 32 countries on 6 continents in the past 15yrs and been to some of the worlds best spots and best kept secrets, you can keep Hawaii Tahiti and the rest, what we lack in qaulity waves we make up in qaulity people, please if you are comming here only for waves, don t waste your time go to Fiji or Tahiti or come over to the Goldcoast and join the circus at snapper or d/bah,we will always welcome anyone to our humble little island and share our super fast fun little waves, but come with the right frame of mine and especially heart,we like Raro the way it is SIMPLE,BUT BEAUTIFUL..aere ra

unlucky - I spent 4 weeks on Rarotonga and scored great waves, Blackrock, Club Raro, Muri, Opi(sp?), Avarua and the passes down on the south of the Island. Freindly bunch of locals, mainly Bodyboarders, surfed with one other tourist. Watch out though I Got caught out on more than one occasion by the tide, which will leave you with only 2 ways out of the water... paddle to the nearest reef pass, which could be a long way, or face the almost dry reef. Aitutaki has some good waves too and no one else out.

oh what - well i went there quite sure there would be waves, seen there was a lot of hype from the bodyboarding community of lately, what a fukin waste of time, flat 4 weeks (1-2, 3ft tops) and fukin expensive, tahiti here i come!!!!!!
