IT's playa Bruja - not playa brueha

Looks good to me - Caught a weekday swell in December, only 3 other guys out. Plenty of fun little peaks. Must be a snobby spot cuz they got a shower at the beach. This spot made my mex trip.

Wish I had found it earlier that weekend! - Hey all, eddie oh here.
I just got back from Mazatlan this past weekend. I was there March 25-28, and found Playa Brujas to have some pretty good waves. Course I'm a beginner and don't know much.
There was a guy renting surf boards for 10 bucks right on the beach. I stayed at the Oceano Palace on Camino Sabalos and took one of the cheap buses up there sunday evening for 8 pesos.
Only one or 2 other surfers, and pretty windy, but I caught one good ride. Wish I had found it saturday so i could've gone more.
Also there is at least one surf shop in Mazatlan that rents boards on the strip down by Mister Tony's and Senor Frog's etc, across from the Budget and Alamo rental car shops.
You'd need a car if you rented from them though. Don't think you'd want to take a board on the bus!
I also saw one guy surfing at Olas Altas on Saturday. Didn't look real great there though. Brujas looked better.
Have a good one!

alright stuff - good spot, me and couple of friends caught it overhead and A- framing in Dec 2000. Next day it was 2 feet and ultra clean. Fickle spot but great when its on. Restaurant has terrible fish tacos, I got vibed there but my leash rapped around my ankle on the drop and came close to hitting a local on the inside with my stick, he gave me some lip...
oh well, i would have squashed his arse. there are some cool people there, say hello to David one of the locals (pronounced: dah-veed) for all you gringo surfers. Whats up David you saw me dropping in on the big set outside as you were paddling in...."matando las ollas"....wish we could have gone north but no vehicle, there is always next time.

right... - this is the same place as Cerritos. nothing but a closeout.

Playa Brujas - It was pretty good today 4-1-03, 5-8 feet, I was just wondering if this was normal?

De anonymous , 17-01-2003

I agree... - I've checked it several times in the summer. It's almost always rideable but I never really saw it work well. mostly close-outs. I was even vibed by a local there. There were only 3 of us out(including him) he told us to go surf somewhere else. Not a wave worth hassling for.

WRONG SPELLING - It is spelled Bruja ... I caught it pretty decent, rides from the point a good way in to the beach, saw a broken board too. I wouldnt say it is a world class wave, but if you are there surf it, why not??

Spot sucks - Stayed 1 mile south of the place with some friends. I dont know if we caught a bad swell or what. The first day we got there it was head high. Break is pretty powerful will 5 second rides. More of a body boarding spot. I wouldnt make the travel there again.
