- drove by here in a boat the other day on a nice NW 5 ft 10 sec. and there is indeed a nice little left in the NW corner of the island. go for it if ya got a boat but its not legal.

Indeed, the lineup is often empty here. - I am quite sure of this fact. There is a good chance you will have this place to itself when it breaks. The odds are high.

- OK, look at the charts and see what the depth is around there, if it just sticks up out of deep water it probably won't break ever. Add the fact that it has about the narrowest freaking swell window in the world. It's probably also covered is super stinky bird shit and grumpy sea lions. Sounds like a serious long shot to me. Probably your best bet is to go out under cover of darkness in an inflatable and try to score at first light before you get in trouble. If my experience trying to catch knee-high peelers on Whidby is any indication, you're better off driving to the ocean.

Got resources? - Yeah, like the majority of us even have the resources to get out there. And if the 200 yd. no disturbance zone extends to people on boards...forget about. Anyone knows most waves break relatively close to shore barring Mavericks, Jaws, etc. Therefore, you may be floating at 200 yds out, wishing you could go into the breakzone. But if one can surf it legally, I'd like to check it out in Fall '06....and, I've got the partial resource$ to do it. Anyone have a really good boat?

Go for it! - Bring a long rope for your anchor, you're going to need it to park your boat.

It's a federally protected wildlife preserve with hefty fines for those who come within 200yrds of it. I really don't know why for sure? I guess bird nesting. I guess it's actually pretty well enforced by marine patrol.

I looked into myself after talking to a ship capitan who passes it daily.

Legal to surf here? - First make sure that you can legally surf on this island. Many of the smaller island around the San Jauns are either protected wildlife areas or closed to non-tribal members.
As far as swells go when do we ever get an east swell?
