The Tunnel Really Does Exist - Look again! Maybe my directions were a little vague. Again, park your car in front of the main entrance to Gaviotas.Look across the highway at the last curio shop on the right. Now look down the highway about 200 yards, where the road bends slightly to the right. There, the highway dips down into a low point. There on the inland side of the road is an arroyo (gulch). Walk around and look down into it,
and you'll see the entrance to the infamous tunnel. It's about a 100 yards long, and about 6 feet wide and about 6 feet tall and leads to the base of the cliff below the swimming pool right near the surf spot. The tunnel is a storm drain that was built when they originally built Gaviotas. Play it cool when you walk down into the arroyo so you wo'nt draw attention to yourself. Bring a flashlight. Note: Sometimes rocks and seaweed clog the opening on the ocean's side and make the tunnel impassable. Its a little scary but its kind of a rush when your mission is accomplished. Good Luck.

Rubish and Bullshit, just pay the bastards. - Los Gav's was cranking three weeks ago and of course we didn't have a room, so we checked out that supposedly "tunnel" under the street. Hog wash, there ain't no tunnel. But we found another way in through the houses to the north. You end up just north of the beach break in a cove. Easy paddle, walk at low tide.
