The place is BEAUTIFUL, just end the entry/exit of the Brest bay (secondth biggest bay in the world after Rio de Janeiro) and the fact is, even if the waves look nice and not too big...be aware that one of them, periodically, will take your board of your hands while duckdiving. Then, you will say to yourself : Wow... It's not strange, it's just like that : the waves at Pen had are like a lady : beautiful and styled but stronger than you. POSSIBLY DANGEROUS. Stay with your kids if they want to surf or swim (even in shallow waters).

300 surfers for Pen Had ! (august 2007) - in french :

The local council may decide to forbid surfing at Pen Had because it is supposed to bring beach-goers and swimmers, against all the postsigns warning of dangerous currents and 'Swimming forbidden'.
We want rescue stations in this area, we want swimmers alive and the right to surf !
JOIN US IF WE NEED TO GATHER 300 SURFERS on the beach, should the council decide to forbid surfing.

?? - never had a problem with locals in Pen had.... yannick yellow board and others "locals" may need to plunge their head in a ice bucket !! go surf and forget each other...

BAD - Bill:Locals are crazy there and just drop on your skull.In addition dozens of boards have been smashed into the rocks.This spot should be avoided since there are so many others in Brittany.
