- Localismo
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): The spot can be a little tricky to access. The locals are gonna hate me for this one but here are some better directions. Head North on rt 1. towards Lewes, DE. You will see a Cape Henlopen Park exit...take it. You will drive down this road which will go by the town of Lewis, and the Cape May/Lewis Ferry.. Keep driving and you will see the Cape Henlopen Park Signs. Pay the fee for the park and take the first left. At the stop sign take a right. Follow this road for a while until you get to a old lighthouse, and a spot called herrings point. You'll see the cars.. its a walk down some sand dunes to the beach.
Ambiente
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Its a very very long right, the only pointbreak delaware offers up. Longboarders love it. Kinda a slow wave, and its amazing how long you will go. Good Beginners waves for easy take-offs. Most guys sit right in front of the rock jetty, and ride forever. It can be a bit competitive with the locals, so just know the rules.
Geral
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): The spot is one of the few surfing beaches in the summer times. It also breaks very long. Watch out for the tree stumps. Very mellow break. enjoy.

Who bulldozed the stumps? - Just wondering if anyone knows who made the decision a few years ago to 'doze the stumps north of the north jetty. What a dumb call. Seems to have ruined the break so kids could swim there. I realize there's a new jetty there now; haven't been back in a few years. Does it ever break anymore? Has anyone ever tried riding the outer shoal that breaks when there's a big swell? I think it used to be an island called "Heads and Chickens" or somthing like that. I always wanted to tow w/a jetski out there. Also, why do people keep mentioning in this forum to be careful of bull sharks in the area? No ones ever been attacked there. There's tons of sharks in the area, especially in summer. Most are brown sharks (sand bar sharks), spinners, and blacktips. Lot's of teeth, but they don't bother anyone.

- Here's the real deal. The naval jetty used to break way better before the jetties were replaced. Even the old south jetty used to break sometimes. There are a ton of beginners, a TON!!! The sharks are mostly sand tigers and sandbars-harmless. Bull sharks do breed in the bay but sightings are rare. The wave is overrated in my opinion. It can be a long wave with the right swell/direction but it's very mushy and powerless and is frequented by the longboard crowd. Have fun with the tourists!
