Not for the faint of Heart - Went out today alone (not recommended ) My first time there. North easter had just blown itself out, walked the mile or so to the spot went out paddled thru 3 separate breaks once on the outside the DO NOT GET CAUGHT ON THE INSIDE !!! alarm started going off in my head .pretty brutal 7'-8' closeout conditions. Theres big ass waves out there to be had id recommend taking a friend little spooky when your by yourself that far from the middle of nowhere . Good part was the current was strong enough by the time i got out i was back down by the parking lot!!! Great session very wild beautiful place.

Almost Quit Surfing - http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=8514
Check out the link above.
In 73 or 74 there were 2 carloads of us locals went down to the Secret Spot it was called then.
Inside was breaking 3-5 foot, but outside, about every 15 minutes there were giant 8-10 foot ground swells in sets of three. A couple of the guys paddled out for the ground swells.
Somebody on the beach yelled “ what is that!” Just inside the sandbar about 50-60 feet wide and as far down the beach as we could see, the water was frothing. It was a school of 3-4 foot hammerheads moving north, having a feeding frenzy. We yelled for the guys outside to paddle out and south away from the frenzy. One of my buds ran back to the ranger station and reported it, they contacted the coast guard. The coast guard sent out a boat, picked up our buds and dropped them in front of the ranger station to paddle in.
The Secret Spot.

NJsurfer - Pretty good mix of surfers and better than average waves for the area. Some of the locals are absolute rippers. Some are just old men out for a relaxing session. Respect them all if you're a guest. Lots of stoke all around. At low tide any wave energy focuses on this sandy semi-point hotspot. It's really a series of sandbars that form around the bend of an inlet. The energy hits those bars and jacks, creating peaks with extended bowl sections that you can really load up and lay some hard turns into, or stall and pull in, even when it's relatively small. Great punchy beach break. Lots of guys boosting all over the place. Beautiful natural beach. Don't crowd up and ruin it for everybody. Walk down the beach and get some to yourself. Kinda murky because it's a silty rivermouth. Lots of sharks when there's bait running.
Kauai Ryan...thanks for bringing Aloha to LTI. This is one Jersey shaper who thanks you deeply.
