Although I am a perfectly capable, aptly-skilled goofy-footer, somehow I don't see where the fun is at this spot. - Now let's review the pertinent facts before making reservations at the Bigshark motel there; that's the 1 where u can check-in right b4 u check-out of your life! One: Butt-ass cold waters. Two: Blinding fog banks. Three: Frequent clean-up sets. Four: No visible markers on the barren shores 2 lineup with. Five: All seals for snacks & no man-flesh makes Gr8 Whitey a dull boy. Six: The next adjacent spot is named Graveyards. There's your six perfect points in Namibia Mr.Jo-nojoke. Any questions?

- I'd be more worried about the seals than the sharks. The sharks would obviously be well fed and unlikely to go for the surfer. The seals (males) are the worry. i saw a big bull eat a small dog and attacks on humans have been reported. Although i have no evidence on this place and have never been there myself.

mucky brown will kill you before grey suit man - Dude, there are so many seals, the pictures do not lie. I have a hard time imagining how one could get through the seals, who would charge you. Oh by they way, all the crap in the water is sure to make you sick. The water is NASTY!!!

nice wave - Surfed there in 98 lots of seals but lots of waves.Namiba one of top three places i have ever been.

MAD !!! - Anyone who surfs this break has to be an absolute crack head. Seriosly, seals every where! No Doubt 6m sharks every where! If you surf this break, you probably have suicidal tendencies.

white sharks - i DON'T LIVE IN A SHARK HOTSPOT BUT NEWSFLASH DINGUS, GREAT WHITE SHARKS ATTACK IN SHALLOW WATER, MOST ATTACKS (ALL 108 OF THEM) ON THE PACIFIC COASTLINE OCCURRED IN 1 - 3 METERS OF WATER, SHARKS WILL DEFINATELY FEED IN SHALLOW WATER, IF YOU THINK YOU'LL BE SAFE AT THIS BREAK YOU'RE STUPID WITH THAT MANY SEALS THERES GOT TO BE HUNDREDS OF GREAT WHITES IN THE AREA, NOT TO MENTION YOU'RE JUST UP THE COAST FROM SOUTH AFRICA AND THE REASON THIS PLACE ISN'T A KNOWN HOTSPOT FOR SHARKS IS BECAUSE IT ISN'T A POPULAR DESTINATION FOR SURFING, TRUST ME, IF YOU HAD 3 DOZEN GUYS OUT THERE EVERY DAY I AM SURE PEOPLE WOULD START GETTING EATEN THERE ON A REGULAR BASIS, PLUS WHO KNOWS HOW ACCURATELY THEY REPORT ATTACKS IN THAT PART OF THE WORLD THERE COULD BE LOTS OF FOLKS GETTING EATEN AND WHO WOULD KNOW, NOT TO MENTION THAT SEALS CAN ALSO BE DANGEROUS SO I THINK I'LL SURF ELSE WHERE, YOU HAVE FUN THOUGH.

Sharks, what sharks?!? - I have to laugh at all this shark talk going on... sorry but it cracks me up. I grew up in Namibia and still go back every year whenever i get the chance so i think its fair enough to say i'm local and i know what i'm talking about.Ok so i'm gonna just state a few facts about namibia/capecross.
1.Yes Namibia has sharks >> surprise surprise << please tell me which country with a coastline doesn't actually have sharks, i work on a beach in the UK and we've just had a shark scare here, no not a basking shark, apparently a MACO, oh my god we all gonna die.
2.Capecross has about a quarter of a million seals, if you were a great white, would you pick the skinny seal with the rip curl sticker on its belly hanging round the impact zone in less than 4 meters of water or one of the 100000 fat seals sunbathing a mile or so off the beach in 50 meters of water. Great whites don't hunt in shallow waters and all the other kinds of sharks can't be bothered to even look at you.
3.I've seen so many sharks in the water,i've caught many sharks from the beach, ive even had a shark hanging off my fin but that has never stopped me going in, now just think namibia isn't even a shark hotspot compared to cape town, durban, california, florida, west oz, mexico, indonesia, french polynesia, reunion island and many more places where surfers go to in there thousands every year and they know what lurks in those waters...hell i don't even want to think about what swims around there but people still surf there...lol namibia's harmless
So please people just cause we got sharks doesn't mean they'll actually bother you, shark factor should not be a reason why your surf trip wasn't to namibia...come up with something more ridiculous like lions and cheetahs chasing you along the beach or flights from the UK to namibia being £800+ (true story...the flights i mean)
