Drive to Hermanus, Turn off at Onrus beach and drive all the way down to the beach. Continue driving round the point till you come to a large bay encircled by rocks. You should see the Onrus campsite just across the bay. In the middle of the bay is one large rock (magnet rock). The take off zone is just to the left of the rock and a bit further out.

 Informações suplementares

Park your car in front of the rocks on the gravel. Paddling out is easy through a channel between two parallel set of rocks just in front of the makeshift car park. Its a long paddle out to the break, through calm water, but well worth it once you get there!

Ambiente

This wave only works when the Indian ocean swell is really huge (ie. a storm swell) Due to the nature of the bay and a good deal of kelp the swell gets cleaned up by the time it breaks. The take off is fairly easy as the wave is fairly top crumbly to start off with, however when the wave hits the shallower part of the reef, it jacks up to a good solid wave.
Its not very easy to catch it working, I've only surfed it twice. When its working a couple of locals will be out, watch them to see where the take off zone is.

Geral

Its a great big wave that an average fit surfer can handle quite easily. Be careful of getting stuck in the kelp though and don't go left as you may hit magnet rock!
