Surf on Niijima in July - Howzit fellow wave riders,I am a Northern Cali surfer, planning to go to Japan in mid July. Can anyone recommend a cool place I can rent a board. Also any ideas if the waves will be big at that time....i need swell! Which areas of Japan do you recommend will have decent waves. Sharks.... - No man eating sharks...just black tips and others looking for little fish. Great diving...Octopus, shell fishes, urchins (uni), and others....if you like sea food. Some of these islands have great surf. Go during the Fall...during the typhoons...you'll get epic surf...and hang out with the locals...some of them RIP, so don't think you're a ripper until you see some of them. Smile and buy a few rounds at the local pubs...you'll be a winner:)
