Good spot in North Taiwan and not far from Taipei - Good spot for biz travellers bound in Taipei during the week and willing to have some fun catching easy waves. The best, the friendly local pals. The worst, the huge amount of local pals. For board rental go to blue ocean surf club (Eric Song) nice pals and willing to assist you. Jep Roca ( Girona / SPAIN)

Silly rules... - Went to Wushi yesterday - about knee-high, but sunny...Was told by one of the 'life-guards' that body surfing was banned. I could go out if I had a board, but it was too dangerous to go out without one. So stupid. 80% of the people with boards in the water could barely swim, and had no idea how to control their board in the knee-high waves. I go to Wushi most weekends during the winter if there are waves, and have never had a problem like this. It really makes no sense - unless you're in the business of renting boards...Taiwan is a great place with lots of thigns to love, but some of the rules are utter garbage.

Summertime crowds - 3rd time this summer as a business traveller stuck in Taiwan over the weekend. Crowded on the weekends with alot of beginners in the water. Can get 2-3 ft. fun size and shape. Pictures on this site must be from Winter - good size waves, less crowds and wetsuits.

another break bites the dust - after being away for a few years i decided to check out wu-shi as i have had some really fun surfs there in the past. trouble was, when i got there i couldn't find the spot!!!!! took a while until the realisation came that it had been jacked over and back filled to create a dusty, garbage strewn vacant lot.

nice - a better alternative to dashi

Taiwan Surf - I'm from California, and this place got on fire one day, a peak came up and it was perfect A frame waves peeling in both directions. Not a pretty beach but there are way better places here in Taiwan.

after surfing you can go to retreat yourself a hot spring - it's really nice spot for surfing goers less crowded than Dashiyou can go to JiaoShi for hot spring & dine yourself at seafood restaurant nearby
