suv harbor sux - it sux! the thing with suva harbor is it is situated on the windward side of the main island and fiji sits in the SE tradewind belt so you're looking at blownout onshore conditions most of the time......hell for kitesurfin though!!!

Locals only..... - Say away from this rare beauty. The reason why nobody has ever seen it really puping is because when it is its locals only out there. And its easy to control cos the only ay out is by bot.I would know.I'm one of the locals.Oh and you can't paddle out there.

heard it gets good - was staying near frigates and spoke with a guy that said you have to be on it. Can get good though he said

better than that - It's better than these posts are telling. When it works it's suppossed to be good. Rarely big but with the right conditions it's a fun wave. Ruined with SE winds though so hard to get it good between June-November.

Not Worth It - if you are travelling through, not a worthy spot to come for waves. Very fickle, challenging waves with a crew that has it dialed. There is much better surf around the island worth going to for the cost of a fiji vacation. The water is also filthy.

harbour swell - Not too bad a wave - nothing special though. The only thing is that being a harbour entrance, and suva being a fairly big developing country city there's a lot of stuff in the water. Heaps of plastic and other crap especially when it rains. I was in Suva for 6 days in August and it rained heavily every day. The wave was blown out by the South East trade winds for 5 days (same as elsewhere in the Pacific I guess) and when it was surfable at two feet the water was the dirtiest I've seen. Way dirtier than most stuff in Aus for example. Ear infection city. Watch your reef cuts and treat them really fast! Nice vibe in the water though. Friendly crew out but it wouldn't handle that many surfers I think. Local said the wind kills the wave for up to three months a time! All sounds a bit neg but you don't go to Fiji for Suva harbour I guess.....

tough spot - This is an ok wave but it's the closest to the capital city so every time it works it gets crowded. It also gets a lot of the rubbish from Suva and you'll be doging plastic bags. The locals are friendly but there's a lot of good surfers and they'll sit deeper and take the lion's share of the waves. If you're way out of line or getting greedy then expect grief.

Like most reef break it gets really shallow and should only really be surfed on the high tide.

Don't travel for it but if you're in Suva and get a chance to get out there take it.

More Info - Err locals only spot....gets to crowded and locals get picky. If you surf here do it on an uncrowded day if ya wanna catch some sweet lighthouse right.

some info corrections - most of the info on this spot is 'spot' on, however just a few things are a bit impracticle...you the reef can only be surfed 2 hrs before and after high tide, in addition, you can't paddle out there ok...its just stupid and not to mention dangerous coz if you're not eaten by a shark, fataly stung by jellyfish...you'l have no mor energy from the 2 hour paddle. You cant just go up to any1 in the city and ask em to boat you out...they'l think you're crazy. Instead go to the Royal suva yacht club which is located at the entrance of the city...you cant miss it..its a marina with heaps of boats and er ..'yachts'.. moored. ask around and you'll be sorted. believe me when i say its well worth the trouble! oh...and there are more spots in suva....you just need a boat to reach them
