Surf in Lauli'i - Anyone have any info on surf and/or lodging in Lauli'i? or in Solosolo?
De Iron Leg, , 12-08-2005
Is world class - Not epic true. But would rate as world class. I surfed this seven times over two week period September last year at between double and triple overhead. Some Hawaiian dudes from the North Shore described "like Piepline but a bit shallower". Compares to Outide Indicators and Manu Bay ledge (at low tide)at Raglan NZ (my local) Not as long as Rags but far, far more powerful and scary bits of brain coral stick up which are much shallower. Not for the faint hearted at size - take a 7'4" or bigger.

not totally epic... - I dont think this is a world class wave. The end bit is fair from perfect... much like many Samoan waves. You can still get a sick one out here, no doubt, but I wouldnt give it more than 3 stars...

Maianoa surf - Maianoa is a small camp run by a local family. 12 uk pounds per night with big feeds in the morning and in the evening. Coconuts is right in front with with other breaks a walk and a paddle away.Stevie wonders and "The left hander".

Boulders - I was staying at Maianoa surf camp(cool little place). This break was great. A medium take off with a fast walling section and a barreling tail end x2. It is one of the only low tide spots around the area, so can get a bit busy. Usually surfed by experienced and pros, this spot is good and has no finger coral but whatch out for those boulders. I had large bruises all over. Helmets probably needed. You don't need a boat!
De SAMOA SPIRIT! , 03-07-2004
- It gets crowded with all the surf camps. Caught it good last month, like 6 foot, but a bit crowded, around 25 guys. Great wave though!

Giving back... - Some of you guys who want to go but not give to the tours...that's OKAY.Giving to the villagers is also okay.I have family in Western and American Samoa and I'm always bringing hand me down clothes for my cousins who don't see malls like we do around the world.A pair of trunks or T-shirts will bring a smile on the faces...especially the little one.So think of the OTHER possibilities if money is scarce. It'll go a very log way.Enjoy Samoa...leave the mainland mental BEHIND!!!
De jim , 27-05-2004
end section - The end section is deadly if you pick the wrong one. You will get hurt.

Lots of sharks - many however are reef sharks, just don't be wigglin' your toes too much...........
De anonymous , 24-02-2004
Heavy huh? - Guess ill need to bring the big board. No 6'1" allowed (is it all big) or are ther smaller spots where the low rocker will come in handy?
