How can you bring surfboards? - I am traveling to Elbow Cay in the near future and i want to bring my own board but i have run into a problem, i cannot seem to find a way to get them there. the American Airlines planes that fly to Marsh Harbour will not take boads and fed-ex wont ship them. any suggestions???

anoyno-mouse - I lived in elbow cay and i can assure you that unless there is a hurricane spinning off the coast, august will not be epic, unless 3-4ft SE chop is your thing. The place that rents boards only rents funboards and longboards (BIC) so bring your own. Please be respectful of the locals as we do have a thriving surf scene here now, and for heavens sake get out of the water when theres a contest!

Bring the Board with - Patric, I lived in Abaco for a while, and know that there is really no place to rent a board, sometimes you can find the odd local that will loan you thier Board, but it is best if you have room to bring your own. There is no real surf report but if you want Info from some locals as to the conditions you can try to post on the Abaco internet board http://coconuttelegraph.net just post asking if anyone knows how the waves are, sometimes they answer sometimes not. I know that last week there was a front moving through and the Elbow Key breaks were going off. If you will be in Marsh Harbour anyway, you can just call on the VHF CH16 and see what the conditions are,and remember that there are at least 7 major breaks on Elbow and Guana alone. There is usually someplace to ride. Not sure where the Camera is pointed today, but sometimes the "Rocky Bay " cam gives a good view of the break from time to time. www.rockybay.com I hope that this info helps and you can find what you are looking for. If I see a post on the Abaco Board I will drop you a line and see if there are any Abaco Details that I can fill in. and locals to get in touch with... Wonkee..

Surf in late March and board rentals? - I'm going to be setting sail from Marsh Harbor in late March and I'm looking for good surf spots. I'm on a 47 ft Cat so I'm very mobile. I'm wondering if I should bring my board or if there is somewhere to rent maybe on Elbow Key or near, and also looking for great spots accessible only by boat. Also is there a good surf report site for that area that I can keep an eye on?

bolinas and pacifica - Hi there, I surfed just for a year in California (San.F - spots ) and did some great waves with my 7´6 board...question if I´m going there in August are there waves and would someone who surfed Caliofornia (5-8ft waves) be able?thankx

- August is a great time to surf Elbow. The water depth drops of to almost infinity just off shore. This brings in the large Atlantic ocean swells. Its also hurricane season.Lots of sharks cruise the reefs here so be on guard.Go to Vernons grocery store for great bread and key lime pie.
