going tomorrow - just some hours away from our next surf trip down to natividad island hope good waves come our way.... will update how the trip went ..... see you back in 4 days
De eponymous , 03-05-2009
the shark comments are a bit overwruaght, but... - nice wave but this place is physically brutal (wind/sun/extreme temps and an insidious kind of superfine "moondust") and will take it out of you whether you come by plane or car. I don't know about peeps being airlifted after shark bites (like the Mexican coast guard would waste its $$ on some pinche gringo surfer!), but I have seen some heavy military activity out there. Saw a navy helicopter land in bahia tortugas and hand some dudes off to the federales while I was having lunch. I had a destroyer shine its spotlight on my camp out by punta eugenia after midnight. so not a place for folks looking to chill. Done right this is an expensive and long trip that requires serious preparation. a very fickle region in general surf-wise. even offshore spots are too exposed if wind is above 25 kts, which is pretty much every afternoon. Little protection to speak of.

fly, don't drive - The safest, fastest, easiest way to Natividad is to fly...4 hours total time to the island from San Diego, and land just steps to the Doors!
De Anonymous , 05-03-2008
nati - pretty fun waves, not really worth the drive though. almost died twice from cracked out semi truck drivers. the camping there is hell, the only thing there is are lots of seaguls and trash.we spoke to the fishermen, they said that they see white sharks out there all the time

Please - You know it's BSD when someone says they saw the Mexican Coast Guard airlift someone off Isla Natividad. More Gringo local wannabees trying to keep the waves to themselves.

What sharks? - Hey "anonymous", are you sure there is a shark problem at Isla Navidad? Last I heard was that his was a crazy rumor created to scare off other surfers... anyway, this is what I learned last time I was surfing Punta Canoas, which is also said to have the same shark problem.
De anonymous , 12-06-2007
confirmation of sharks - last time i was out there a guy got hit by a juvinile great white and had to be airlifted off the island by the coast gaurd. watch it out there there is a shark problem. too many seal pups and the sharks get confused. best stay with abreojos where the only thing to worry about is other gringos and stingrays!
