Ambiente

Only been there a few times, but found it great. Very accessible, and friendly folk in the water. And best of all - warm and clean.

Hurricane Ileana - My wife and I stayed at the Palmilla this past week, hurricane Ileana shifted course and set large sets to cabo area. Point was breaking with consistency on 8/23/06 with sets over 20ft. No takers as conditions were pretty disorganized.

- I stayed at the Palmilla about 5 years ago and saw the point breaking. I can see how it may get good 2-3 times a year, but I think the conditions need to be pretty ideal for it to be worth it.Anyway, we had no idea that a hurricane had stalled and positioned itself directly into the swell window for the corridor. We woke up one morning and waves were breaking into the pool, the palapas on the beach were gone and the point was pretty much insane. We had no car this day so I walked from the hotel down to the beach area fronting the bay. The waves were peeling off a deep water reef and plowing into the deeper water of the bay with little consistancy. Some would fire along the reef and look insane while others would break wide and march into the bay. I watched it for about an hour and eventually paddled out. It was easily 2x overhead on the inside and 3x overhead closer to the point. I sat wide of the point and tried to get some of swingers. I caught 2 waves and almost got decappeted by the rope of a bouy that was getting thrashed. I called it a day after that. Nobody else in the water. If I had a car I would have travelled up the cape a bit to get cleaner surf...

never seen it break - I'd like to see a picture of la punta breakin... I've been down south many times before and have yet to seen any surfable waves, even in the hurricane season. If anybody's got any experience surfin it or any photos it'd be chill to stick them on the web, I'll believe it breaks when I see it.
