NOT A ZEN SPOT !!!!!! - I don't surf here for a long time (only 14 years),but I love this spot because It's the first spot where I surfed, but now I'm trying to surf here only when it's too onshore(very often)and bad(often)or big (not often enought) because it isn't the best spot, but as soon as there'is a ridiculus peak , there are 30-40 surfers all the time. The level is bad, but they are dangerous, snake a lot, it's agressive and ridiculus. When there is a very good peak (rarely) or only offshore, there is the "Hossegor surf jet set", pros, fotograph... SO ultra crowded and for you one wave for hours and perhaps not alone on it !!!
But the new locals are the worst!!! They are pretentious, agressive, especially when the waves are small... Where are they when the surf is heavy ????? With 6-8 ft power, or strong current, they stay on the beach...
Surf school, surf business, webcam, surf report, mobile phone, RMI and SMIC ( unemplyoment allowance in france),THANKS YOU VERY MUCH !!!
SO if you want to surf relax don't surf here !!!! Or don't be stupid, when there are 10-15 surfers on a peak,don't go to surf with 4 or 5 freinds (especially if you surf with a longboard ), walk and go and see somewhere else.

Hossegor, Le Penon, Seignosse - Hello from austria,
i was in Hossegor this summer, at the time of the rip-curl-pro. perfect waves all day long, but hard to catch one in high-season(crowded), but if u keep triing also beginners have a lot of fun(catched 20 waves a day) party in hossegor is good - rock food, blue chip. It`s not that expensive. very clean sandy beaches... H.

be careful - watch out. there are stupid guys here that steal everything from your car. Don't think that it's safe to park your car here, just because there are 100 other cars parking. the hollyday of a couple that i know was over because they took everything from their car (credit card, driving license, money...)

le penon - I've been there all last summer and there was not more oil...not enough to be an issue. You could still se some on the bank but not even close to what it was like in 2003 and I'd say that by now probably is all gone.

oily oily? - hey, can anyone tell me whether or not there is still oil in the water in sw france? i know some of the beaches were closed last year is it still an issue??

Surfing La Penon - i visited the south of france sept04 for the first time and was totally impressed with the size and power of the waves here. One day it was 5-6ft perfectally offshore, there are some good right hand barrels to be had here and the shorey is good fun. Best at a low to mid tide. fry

bon chance, je tiem bien - i was just there in hossegor for about 2 months and had the best time. waves were pretty fucked but chicks and party was a cack went to la canau and anglet and ran a muck
doubt anyone i travelled with will read this but us aussies smashed it. yes we did...
