Sylt - fladvandsspot? Vh. Tea

what is it, punks? - come on kids, you cant be serious?1. exclusiveness/prices: spent the last 10 days on sylt sleeping in a van, having pricy fishy dinners each night and watching the waves all day long. with my girlfriend. for less than 500 €. and you can have it much cheaper if you avoid eating like me and my girl did (dishes for at least 12 euro every day).2. people: over the past 20 years (i am 25) i have been noticing a change of how people on sylt are. natives are a bit peculiar, most of them. tourists were much more snobbish in the past, now there is a pretty young, pretty open-minded, casual and nonchalant audience. it is much easier to find friends than anywhere else in germany, especially after the fifa worldcup which turned germans almost inside out.3. germans ability to speak english (amongst other languages): you will get in trouble if you expect that any senior speaks perfect english. youths will surprise you with above-average good english (have you ever been to france?). and whats the problem with an accent? i mean, when i am reading such comments i would definitely avoid getting in contact with people having that attitude ("horrible accent", "unable to get socialized" etc) as well.3. rich people not wanting scumbag surfers: so dont be a scumbag!? anyways, you can be a surfer on sylt as much as you want. 20 years and i have never seen a rich guy knocking out a surfer with his rolex. not even a scumbag surfer.4. surfing conditions: i must admitt that i am not a surfer, yet. sylt is not maui, theres no jaws and no mavericks. but in order to find 5° C. cold water you must come here in january! temperatures are always at least 17° C., from may to october. at the moment its 22° C. which is great. speaking of the island itself: i have been to california last year, driving down the -1- from san francisco to LA and it was great. never made so many cool experiences in such a short time (three weeks). but i have lost my heart on sylt and so did most of the people i know who have been there at least one time. it is still one of the most beautiful places on earth, just in one row with spots like the cote d'azur. if you ever get the chance to come here for a few days, wether you are a surfer or not, dont waste a second.

Can be damn good!!!! - I mean realy Germany isn´t the greatest place to be if you are addicted to surfing but Sylt can still be heaps of fun. Just check out the swell and the wind and you will find good coditions. The swell has to be heaps big and you have to wait for the wind to die down. On the next day if the wind has died down and the swell from the day just before is still pumping (even better would be offshore winds for sure) Sylt has to offer the best conditins in Germany, trust me!!!
