The wave is good and funny - Calita is good also is fun for surf and body. I am go to there a times and have surfing very much. Person in water is nice and waves is funny. I rip super hard and do mammoth, skate-inspired airs.

wrong information - that spot does not called calita but it´s sure that is from rota, not mediterranean.not much people now the where it is and definitelly with good condition is the best wave of andalucia.
De popartiot@hotmail.com , 05-08-2005
don't tell where it is - I've already surfed there many times, it only works with 1.5m minimum, the wind must be offshore during a few days, are even does not blow, with low tideIt's like surfing on corals, you must wear boots, some guys surf with a helmet, because there isa big rock in the middle. You can see it till the tide has not got low.To get in , you must sit on the rocks and jump like on corals in Canarias betwenn two sets.A wave with different sections during 300m on good days (not joking). The first one is slow, very good for longboards, to make big cut back, you must stay in the curl, wich is quick difficult. Then ,if you have a shortboard you must pump to get the other section, very fast and hollow;you must be very careful with the rocks that is out on your left and don't fall. It ist he best one.Third section, slow and smaller as well, then the last one: it gets bigger, there is 1 m of water over the rocks only, very fast with tubes. You have got a current that sucks a lot on 50cm of water, if you don't have boots, you won't be able to resist. At the end of the wave, I though about all this fucking beachbreaks I had been surfing for years, whereas here was a perfect wave, with different feelings, and few people, it's the best wave in Andalucia. You really can improve your surf on one wave and make tricks and carvs you've never done before, just because this wave breaks as if it was made by a machine. But it does not work very often, maybe fives times in a year!People come from malaga to surf it.If you find it, don't tell where it is, really, it a jewell we must preserve. What is certain is that la calita s not is real name.

surf for beginners? - HiAndalucia sounds great and we,re really keen to try it in march/april. However, is it ok for beginners, will be be something for us to surf without needing a rescue operation! Also does anyone know if its possible to hire a camper van? Many thanks Fio

recomendations - Is true that calita is very good spot but fixed to calita there is a reef 100 metres into the sea where you will find a veeery long wave opening right and left. With a good sweel and without wind is perfect, powerfull and bigger than calita. With low water, becarefull with rocks.surf it with low/med water and becarefull with current into the sea.For experienced surfers.Information for Webmaster:Mostly of surfers in Calita are Spaniards.Only sometimes you will find US Navy guys into the water.

Hopefully moving to Rota - I am possible getting orders to Naval Station Rota as a weather guesser, aka meteorologist. If anyone can shed some light on some good sites to be within at least bike distance to this calita spot, or any other ridable wave. I have been living in California for the past year and have been spoiled, i am just stoked that i will be able to get some surf. I need to live somewhat close to the beach, probably renting if that picture is good...any leads on renting property would be appreciated as well. thanks for the help, and if all works well i will see you in the water.
