I went surfing with a friend from Newcastle and I didn't think that we'd score any decent waves as the wind was howling in from the NE, giving serious blown out storm surf up and down the coast. We stopped off at Beadnell Bay to check it out and too my surprise I saw clean lines of 2-4ft surf. Standing on the beach I checked the compass on my watch and was happily surprised to see that the north part of the bay faces SSE, meaning that the strong NE wind was blowing offshore and hitting the storm surf as it wrapped around the point.
