Unwisemen - I don't know who puts all the info on this site but I would give a bit of advice to any people who live on a quiet coastline with good waves. "Don't advertise the fact and definately don't put pictures of the waves on the net". I'm lucky enough to have surfed my local stretch of coast for 25 years and we used to welcome travelling surfers and take the lucky ones to our best waves. I really wish we hadn't,as now we get so many people here that I sometimes turn up at the good reefs, to see so many guys out that I just turn round and go back to somewhere else, that's not such a good wave but I know at least I'll get the waves I want and surfing them won't be like a giant slalom. You might think that your area is too far North and cold for too many people to want to make the journey but that's what we thought a few years ago. Take Care.

Wisemans - It's very unlikely that you'll score Wisemans late summer, however if you are up near Banff you should score some waves at Sandend or up with us at Fraserburgh.

thanks for the info anon... - i appreciate the info mr anon. it's refreshing to get good advice from a fellow surfer about what looks like a quality wave. i'm planning a trip to the hebrides in late summer and i'm hoping to score at wisemans too as i'm visiting some friends in banff. do you know if the swells consistent around that time as i've been recomended that the west coast gets good then too. it's a small wonder that places as untapped as scotland haven't been over publicised. i guess we can thank the cold water for that!

no title - Actually the picture that you see is basically as small as the place will break which means that it doesn't work all that often - a clean groundswell is needed. Wisemans is probably at its best when it gets a good bit bigger than in the picture, although it gets pretty scary at double overhead plus. Although the wave is good the takeoff is pretty gnarly as it hits a shallow shelf very quickly. Takeoffs are probably 50-50 at the peak but easier on the shoulder.
