Head out to The Gower...Follow the signposts...about 30mins drive from that "pretty, shitty city" (NOT by Dylan Thomas).

Informações suplementares
Oxwich needs a VERY big swell to start working. Generally Llangennith needs to be over 6ft before you see any sign of a wave breaking. The best spot for the bay is right infront of the car park. When the place is 'on', word spreads very quick...with the right conditions it barrels sweeeeetly.
The bay is a fun wave but....if you get there at the right tide (preferably on an outgoing high tide), there are a couple of other better spots in the vacinity...If you look out about 200m from the beach there's a point break right up next to the edge of the rocks, next to the cliff....
If you put in the effort to check it out, you'll be pleasently surprised to find one of the best semi-secret reef spots on the Gower. Once you get to the point, look about 100m to your right and you'll find Oxwich Reef which, if the bay is 3ft and the point is 4ft, will be about 6ft. It's a superb reef with a fast, hollow take off over a very shallow rocky bottom....The reef, like the bay, doesn't break all that often...but when it does make the effort to get out there...you'll have a big smile on your face and be pleased that you made the effort...

Ambiente
Like a lot of the Gower (langland excluded), the surrounding scenery is beautiful...especially at the reef...
Remember though that while the bay is pretty easy wave to surf, the point and the reef are for the more experienced surfer...By all means sit and watch the reef, but if you haven't experienced surfing above a shallow, rocky bottom don't even think about it...For everyone's safety!

is'nt the reef the point? - Never checked these comments before, been surfin oxwich point/bay for the last 4 years on all the best days, but what is this mysterious reef you're all talkin about? Surely the point is the reef! Or have I been too focused on super suck walling barrelling rights to walk a bit further. The nearest reef is slade round the corner, but I check it regular an it's v.fickle, so is the reef the far point cause I've never seen anyone surf that?Well confused, anyhows that's the end of the heavin sw swells for this year and I'm movin so won't surf the point for many years to come. Even in 4 years of committed searching on the gower you'll still find someting sweet and secret if you look hardenough. Nowadays the point picks up a huge crowd when on, so the secrets out..but I still get to surf it alone and perfect on many days this last epic winter! Respect to all the smiling locals, you know who you are and farewell mon amour!
