English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Can be very small at low tide then overhead at high tide. Check the outer sand banks out to sea to see how much swell there is. If it is too big check out Coney beach/porthcawl point, round the corner. There is also a high tide wave in Porthcawl called the ESP, popular with bodyboarders. It is a short reef break; don't ride the wave for too long, it turns into a very heavy shore dump onto concrete.
Ambiente
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Really, really nice on a medium winter swell at high tide when the sun is setting, this place is far less crowded in the winter. Coney can often get frustrating becasue the waves have a tendecy to close out. The locals are very tollernt of all the goatboters etc, but it is fair to say give them thier space. They have a much higher stanard of surfing than the visitors and this is obvious out in the water. Canoeists F@?k off!
Geral
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): If their were less canoeists, especially at high tide this would be a really fun place to surf, canoeists you are hated, go somewhere else!

Moan moan moan - Yeah Kate, I'm with u. I was jus checking out cos some of the boys from my kayak club are thinking of going down and what do i see? - hate!
Bout time someone grew up and realised surfers and kayaks are on the same side: we ride the river, u ride the sea. Maybe we shud work together the clean the planet up and swop notes, not dump on each other's fun. I wouldn't want to be in a club that expressed the sort of feelings i get off this site. F u right back!!

- i regularly surf rest bay mid week, were from gloucester and rest is one of out nearest surf spots, longboarding isnt just for the old. im 20 and love long boarding, i have ridden shortboards in the past and love both styles of surfing. I have a lot of respect fro the locals here, very friendly and good vibes everytime we go here. can get very very good on the right swell, just the chavs in their cars in the car park in the evening are a bit fo a problem, other than that the surf is great

Good surf???? - Rest bay is one of the sloppiest waves around the south west. It is consistently choppy and very rarely hold a good wave. Now don't get me wrong when it does being a good swell, then Its sweet but the truth is, it only seeing one in a blue moon. I have been surfing in and around that area for 5 years and there are much much nicer breaks just a few mins away with much fewer crowds. Take the time to look around and you will be blessed with a higher reward.
Peace.
