Pt Arena cove and breaks adjacent... - Yeah, pack your AK in the trunk. It takes the one sheriff patrolling this area to arrive at least 40 mins to arrive and most likely more. Bring a big friend with a carry permit for his glock. He watches the car while you surf. Don't bring a dog, the locals dog will kill him. Many good waves, and some cool heads, but you can easily get messed up. Urgent care is in Gualala. Helicopter evacuation to Ukiak is $20k

Re: Caspar - Yeah Caspar is Mendo's version of Waikiki, and also one of the only surfable spots when the swell gets big, like today.

Caspar Creek - Surfed at Caspar Creek on Christmas day 2007. It wasn't the best day for the waves, but off and on throughoout the day the surfer head count ranged from 1 to 12. Surfers were all adults from 20-something to 60-something. Both sexes, several races, and varied skill levels were represented. My wife and I were the only non-locals. Everyone in the water was friendly and all had a good time. I look forward to surfing there again. It's pretty, easy, and the locals surfers made it more fun. (How often do you hear something like that?)

- Been here many times and never had a bad experience. People here usually keep to themselves or are friendly. Put out some good vibe and there's a good chance it'll come back to you. Not saying meth isn't a problem here but where isn't it? Anyway, I've never had any run-ins with tweakers here...just quiet chargers, mellow hippies, and the odd, crusty, downandout types that you expect to see when you travel north of Bodega...

LOCALS - After visting the mendocino area on multiple occasions, I began to realize how unfriendly some of these locals truly are. Many have brains that are fryed beyond normal function. To make matters worse, a large population of the Fort Bragg and Mendocino locals are raging alcoholics. Don't worry though, you can easily spot them and avoid contact. Just look for lifted 4x4s that belong in the junk yard, guys and girls with mullets, illiteracy, two adjective vocabularies, and missing teeth. They don't like visitors because we make them feel inadequate. I advise any surfers that visit to stay away from these unstable barbarians. If any of you lame locals read this, I don't want to challenge you to a fight; instead, I challenge you to do something with your life. Hooked on phonics dawg.....and no, you don't have retard strength, that's just the pcp talking.

Virgin - Virgin Creek can get really good. I've surfed it several times. A nasty rip can develop, so be careful. The rip can be used to your advantage though. Paddle out in the rip channel toward the middle of the beach to get out past the breakers. There's usually a few guys out there if the surf is clean. Definitely get a sharky vibe though. Something about the sandbar and and the seals that hangout on the rocks....you know something has to be lurking below. About 15 miles north of virgin a man was killed by a white shark (2004) while he was diving for abalone. Go out with a buddy and you've reduced the chance of being attacked by 50 percent. That's the way I look at it.

Virgin Creek - I caught Virgin Creek about two years ago. One guy out, cold, grey, spooky, thought I was gonna get eaten. A good wave though, the one guy out told me I was lucky cause usually it's real windy but it was oil glass that day. Caught some really fun lefts for about forty-five minutes and then I could'nt handle the spookiness and had to split. The other guy said he surfs out there all the time by himself...there's some really good abalone diving a little bit south of there but too rocky and weird for surf spots. I'm just glad I didn't meet the real locals cause I know they're there. A really pretty area though.

Go surfin! - I LOVE SURFY GUYS

awesome place - I love mendo. Heavy locals at Point Arena cove, the best wave around, but otherwise all is cool and peeps very mellow. Some really good reef breaks hidden in nooks and crannys south of Point Arena and into northern Sonoma County. I would love to quit the rat race and move here and grow some good ganja in the hills.
