English (Traduzir este texto em Português): basically sands usually gets the best with a windswell. This is most consistant during the spring when heavy winds blow in the channel and at evening sands will glass off, making for some fun peaks when everywhere else could be flat. Groundswell tends to closeout with size, but still can be fun. Because its wind dependant its possible to get good anytime of the year.
Ambiente
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Fun mellow crowd.<br />There are two main peaks up near the point and out by the estuary. Although when its good you can surf up and down the beach break.
Geral
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): can be fun when theres not much swell if you catch it right.

sands - sands is the best surf spot in isla vista. campus is only good on a big groundswell, and if you wait around for one of those, you probably aren't going to be surfing that much. i lived in i.v. for 3 years and sands was the spot to go to 95% of the time, especially considering i didnt have a car. if you are gonna live in i.v., get to know sands, and get used to setting your alarm if you want to get good waves there. most of the time the waves aren't great but its surfable more days than any other spot around. and for a few days a year it will turn on if you get it on the right tide/wind/swell. also, definitely venture north and south to check out sb's superior surf spots, but as an everyday spot, sands is pretty good. nothing better then riding your bike out there at sunrise and finding head high waves just dumping with no one on them. it happens.

Rad guy warning - Whow dudes. I went to sands the other day. It was as flat as a lake. Istill padled out, hoping for something. Just then, a seal jumped outta the water, causing a 2-3 inch wave to come towards me. I turned my mach 10 hydro rail boogie board around and kicked my feet hard. The wave crested at about 1 inch due to refraction (and a seagull sitting in the water, blocking the wave window), Then I took off. I fell on the drop, hit the bottom, was held down for what seemed like 3 seconds, then came up. I got out of the water, went to Costco, bought a new boogie board, And thanked Old man neptune for sparing me to shred another day. Later dudes. p.s. Still want to party.
