English (Traduzir este texto em Português): Once you get to the island you have to search for where the waves are breaking the best, depending on swell and wind direction and the current banks that have formed. I would only recommend this spot on clean swells, otherwise the boat trip out there and the hassle isn't worth it.
Ambiente
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): The best part about this spot is the surroundings that you get to surf in. It is really tropical looking and it is also nice to travel to a surf spot by boat. This spot is also good because almost no one surfs it and you can have it all to yourself. It is definantly a soul surfing spot.
Geral
English (Traduzir este texto em Português): I like this spot because I am from Tarpon Springs and am one of only people to ever surf it.

Back in yousta - First people to surf this island where some of the few local charter captains who happened to surf. This happened back in the 70's. I started surfing this wave in the mid 90's with some friends. We had boats in Gulf Harbours and it was a straight shot. Definitely a tropical sureal spot. Almost reminds me of the Mentawaiis in Indo. Def best to head out there on a clean Tropical Swell. Cold front swells pack a punch but the ride out prepare to take a bath and make sure you dont have a tiny boat! The currents, unpredictable breaking waves can spell disaster when try to set anchor. Depending on swell direction and tide north or south end sand bars can be better. BEWARE of sharks!! You think Im kidding grab a mask and snorkel and look inside the channel when you motor around the key..might make you rethink your session. However clean long waves with no one out and possible epic sessions when conditions are right. Cold front swells on a switching w to ne wind best as well. Be repectful of the guys who are there and surfing.
