Truly not ever worth it - I too have checked this spot on the most enormously big swell and it doesn't break. Not worth paying the park entry fee to check. Maybe if its huge and you want to teach a little kid to surf and you want the weakest most sheltered, harmless wave. This spot is even more sheltered than Jetty Park, Port Canaveral.

John U Lloyd Surfing - I grew up Surfing Dania Pier and Franklin Street. Recently, a buddy of mine always try to get me to go to John Lloyd and it has always been a disappointment. It's a real shame, since this has all the makings of a great break: Nice big park, ample parking, long jetty to shelter winds and current. But alas, it sucks! Here is a rule of thumb, it is ALWAYS smaller here than anywhere else. On a handful of occasions I have surfed a fun shorebreak near the jetty but its always been small, even when the winds are kicking out of the NE. If you dont want to paddle out far and want easy waves, this place will be good for you.
