Excellent Surf Camp - There is an amazing surf camp at Praia Mole www.brazilsurfcamp.com

AVOID THIS COMPANY - If you are going to Floripa, which I highly recommend you do in THEIR summertime, DO NOT go through Brazilsurftravel.com. Mauricio schemed me out of most of my money. You better know how to drive a stick shift out there, that's the only car there is.I met the hottest 18 year old Brazilian, and it was well worth it.Try not to go between the months of June and August - it's Brazil's rain season. The waves are not worth it and the girl's are fully clothed.Go from November through February. Chicas muitos bonitas.Pick up some Portugese back at home, you'll need some to get by (or if you intend to pick up any ladies at least). They love Americans.Don't bring your board(s), it's a waste of money, and they can easily get messed up on the plane. You can easily rent them there.Barra da Lagoa, Joaquina, and Mole are nasty. The waves are like Jersey so be ready to surf beach break.I've never seen hotter girls in my life.If you stay at the Praia Mole hotel, bring a comfy bed, cuz their's were way uncomfortable. Ask for Fernando the bead maker, he's the man. He hooked me up with the good stuff too. VIVA FERNANDO!!! HAHA!Obrigados!Pedro

Respect is all - Im a local, so i would say to all the GRINGOS: stay off our joaquina, go to praia mole or galheta, you will have fun there! The island is so fuck´n crowded now, that in few years will explode.. its really a shame for the people like me, who are born there, to see the traditions and the nature going away so fast. Polution, criminals, drugs.. if you come to the ilha, respect. Dont act like a gringo, a haole. Stay real. Dont show off your stuff, or you´ll get robbed or something worst.. really a shame to see this happening with my birth place. Now i´m in germany, and i can see and aprecciate all the good aspects of floripa... so please, if you´re planning on traveling there: respect, help to keep the paradise the way should be; simples and peacefull.Good vibes..

Buy or Rent a Board? + Wetsuit in May? - I'm going to be in Floripa for two weeks in May and I'd like to know if good used boards are available for sale locally or should I plan on renting a board (if so, where are the good shops that don't screw tourists?)Also, I understand wetsuits are not usually needed, but what about in May?Thanks

Lovin Floripa - I don't understand what some of these people are talking about? I'm an American livin in Floripa for 6 months, just started surfing and i'm horrible at it, but while in the water, the locals have done nothing but help me out, try to give me tips, and be cool about everything..i don't think the locals could get any nicer...maybe the reason they are giving you attitude is because you come on their territory acting like you own it...

Brazilian Locals - Surfers from all around the world, its just a pleasure to have you guys here, its known we got the best girls and good surf too. But respect locals. If you want to be respected at your home brak respsct the locals when you're here. Enjoy Brazil

BRAZILIAN PROTEST - I´m Brazilian and sometimes I feel shame by the behavior of a big part of the surfers in the water. And the result is the bad image that we have outside Brazil. People don´t respect, want to get in every wave, drop in ... On one hand I´m brazilian and want to be respected when I go surf outside my country, but on the other hand I can´t blame hawaiians and other guys to be so mad with us, cause that´s a reaction that we have caused with our abscence of education. Not every brazilian is that, but people should have good sense and education in water.
