300 to 500 mts wave, haha. - Nobody has ever surfed a 300 mts wave here, not even Marcelo Trekinho, the best local of the spot. When it´s classic you get to surf 50 mts waves, otherwise is a close out.
De Francisco , 21-03-2008
- Not really worth it.. some of the pics look great but i can tell you it's pure illusion. Some are fat and don't break, and most of them close out. Add to that a bunch of half-brained over-worked out locals who think they are at Sunset (like the dude below...fora haole? they probably can't even pronounce it properly) and you have all the ingredients for a crappy session. Go further along the coast and you'll find better waves with more decent crowds, even though, this being Rio de Janeiro, decent is always relative: The crowds suck and most people have no idea of how to behave in a lineup!

Fora Haole - Get out of Lebon Haole!!!!!!

any surf in july august - I will come to rio in july to august 3 weeks!i just want to ask which swellsize there is on a small day?
De nigga_who , 29-09-2005
certain death - be careful with the deadly rat bite that comes swimming out from the channel (canal da visconde)!! , some times, they are not friendly..
De Marcelo , 23-12-2004
Rio de Janeiro- Brazil - Brazilian bodyboarders are the best of the world!!!!Leblon is a traditional BB place. Home of winners.Keep it up!!
De anonymous , 20-09-2004
the, then, kid who posted this spot - yeah uh, maybe. i am the one who posted the spot.when i surfed i didn`t know that it could get as good as these pictures indicate. just change it to whatever u think it should be.
De thiago_rj , 03-09-2004
pontao is perfect...dont ''standard'' - standard wave?????? it's world class!!!!
De anonymous , 13-05-2004
- Pontão gets real big, up to 10ft. Not that common, though. The rest of the beach is a total crap. Pontão handles big swells much better than Barra. Barra is most 95% of the times a close out for anything bigger than a 4/5ft swell.
De anonymous , 06-02-2004
sucks... - when they say it's 3m at pontao, we would say it's 1,5m at barra. that's because they are used to surf flat waves everyday, so when they get waves they get crazy ! they also get loads of shit from a sewage channel (canal da visconde de albuquerque), but who cares? not a surfing spot, except from a few days when pontao (eastern end of the beach) offers some good waves...seu merrequeiro
