-Once on the island of San Cristobal, take a cab for $2.00 and they will drop you off at the break which takes about 10 minutes to drive to just pass the airport. Now if you have tough feet and Ballz of steel ! You can walk a long walk thru the military base around the small beaches past a few more breaks like the cannon, tongo, and a mysterious shipwreck break over lots of lava rocks in the blazing sun. Roughly 1 hour walk. Or just have the cabby come back to get you ! EASIER and less sunburn and blisters.

 Informações suplementares

This spot can start getting hairy at about 2 meters or 6 feet. The left is super sketchy when only typical swell is showing. But when a huge swell south swell starts, grab your gun and get barreled. The right is longer with a quick take off but can be very fickle, so judge it wisely. Paddling thru the sand part of the beach is recommended unless you have reef booties then jump off the rocks to the far left of the beach. Helmet and reef booties advisable if the swell is 3 meters/9 feet or so ! Have fun and stay away from the sea lions in the shorebreak, they can pound you harder than the waves.

Ambiente

There is barely anyone at this beach because there are only a few and i mean a few real local surfers. Tourist buses might pull up time to time to look at the white sand beaches and the sea lions, but other than that you are on your own. A cool little tree hut to the left end of the beach to stay out of the sun and a tidal pull at low tide for a cool relief. No stores makes this the only bad thing because of dehydration possibilities, but who wants a 7-11 anywhere close by to this natural beauty.

Geral

I think its the most consistent break on the island of san cristobal and if i could be there right now i would surf loberia. It is also one of the only spots there are that you can film from too ! The rest of the breaks require a lame surf I.D. or a boat ride. This place is safe easy and mindblowing deserted to surfers.

- I was in the Galapagos for two weeks during the South Swell season (July) and got skunked for waves. The problem is (in this season) that unless there is a decent size swell going on, there is nothing to surf. I surfed La Loberia 3 or 4 days (by myself everytime except sea lions), and it is a super sketchy and not fun AT ALL when it is small (under 2 meters reading by windswell). I don't doubt that this place absolutely rips when a big swell comes through from the South, but considering you can get ripping places in Peru, Chile etc. that are also fun when it is small, I would say don't bother. I don't think this is the same for the north swells during Dec-Mar...However, if surfing is a bonus (like it was for me), and you want to visit the most incredible place on earth the this is the place. I have travelled to over 40 countries (not usually for surfing) and there is nowhere I can compare with the Galapagos Islands for natural beauty!
