8 feet?! - OK. Pampilla is a good spot in its days, you can have some tubes but I have never seen 8 feet waves! I have surf there for 4 years and I have caught it small, medium and big, but 8 feet is 2.5 meters. Thats a big wave even in beaches like caballeros and señoritas. Pampilla gets maximum 2 meters.

Note from a local Gringo - OK Gringos,Listen up and you will here the real story of Pampilla. I live on top of the hill overlooking P. The story of the 8 footers is true... and at other times you need your longboard to surf the dink sets. Most of the time it breaks right at about 4-6 feet. Over 8 it closes out and turns into a storm break. You'd better be able to duck dive ten in row at least if you want to surf the good stuff on a big day. It's way out there. The best location advice is to line up with the lighthouse on the hill. Line up with the lighthouse centered in the middle of the apartment building with the blue tinted glass and at least as far out as the end of the jetty to the south. From there you will be at the edge of the channel and in the zone for the right break. You can work it farther out but sometimes it closes out from the right if it breaks far out.On big days the best spot is directly in front of the light house but way out. More or less lined up with the end of the jetty to the south with the resaraunt on it (good food but pricey). Be patient and don't go for the first wave in the set. The second or third are always better.Enter the water far all of these breaks exactly half way between the two jettys. The current in close to the shore runs right to left then changes to go left to right. By entering there, you catch the current as it's changing and is running straight out. If you work your waves right you can do a racetrack pattern on the current and save a lot of effort paddling.Pampilla is best at low tide on small days and high tide on big days. Other wise it's either flat or closing out. Its also best in the mornings when there is only one wave set breaking. By afternoons, when the wind picks up, you will see a second set that sometimes conflicts with the main set.In winter you will be more comfortable in a full 2-3 mm suit. Summers you can wear a shorty or trunk it in Feb- Mar.It is truly a break for everyone, just not everyone on the same day. It will change from one day to the next. But I surf it almost every day because there is always something surfable.

dreaming - maybe you were dreaming and saw pampilla like indo, and maybe you were also dreaming when you say 30 8 foot waves, maybe you are a dog like all those bunch of them at pampilla.

Pampillaso tio, le patea el culo a punta roquitas - i don't think la Pampilla should be all surfers. when it gets big. Watch out bro cause the sea will eat you whole. 30 8-foot wave sets will keep you busy duck-diving for your life if they don't make you go screaming for your sorry ass life while paddeling toward the beach. And i've seen La Pampilla like indo. But more than twice a year i would say, every other year. That's once every two year for all you non english speakers
De indo??? , 05-07-2004
indo - pampilla in it's existance has gotten like indo broder. we are talking about a messy sloppy wave. you may better change what you said. indo?? what are you talking about. maybe were in pasamayo and you thought it was pampilla
De Javier Pjinowski , 06-06-2004
Pampillaso - twice a year get just like indonesia. but mowt of the time is a pretty fun place to surf if you dont have the time to go all the way down to the south. Its very good for longboard. Punta Roquitas which is right next door is perfect for bodyboard.
De Lima local , 05-04-2004
Patrick Broaneaux - if its big. it closes out. But still a very good rush. Pampilla big drags you far away from the point and it hard to duck-dive since it's always a 20 wave set. Can get long. 600 feet long.
De anonymous , 11-12-2003
this break can hold good swells - if you're lucky long rights
De TC , 18-10-2003
Green Coast - Pampilla and Costa Verde are the places where Lima surfers learn to surf. These spots where really good in the past but now can be "good" for certain international standards.
